After receiving many recommendations for custom builders, we contracted with Mike Gargiula to build our dream home in Southwest Florida. As this was our first custom home, we were anxious about the whole process. Who would design the home? Would we be on budget and how would we contain the costs? Who would look out for us, the buyer? With all of the horror stories you hear about builders, could we trust our builder?

For us, the first step was trust. We trusted Mike implicitly from the beginning. This underlying trust made the whole process as smooth, pleasant and low stress as building a dream house could be.

Through Mike’s recommendation, we found a great custom-home designer who helped us design a beautiful New England coastal-style home. Even though this is a very unusual style home for Southwest Florida, Mike was excited about the challenge and spent a tremendous amount of time researching options and unique features for the home.

After a series of meetings, Mike set up a budget for us. Although we made a number of on-the-fly upgrades and additions, we stayed within 5 percent of our original budget. When we were going to go over budget on something, Mike would point this out and try to give us options to stay on budget. He seemed to protect the budget like it was his own money.

Mike hired great sub-contractors who performed high quality work in a timely fashion. He commented that the framing, plumbing and trim were some of the best he had seen. Building Superintendent Jerome was also amazing. He was always around and accessible, very knowledgeable and always put us at ease if we became stressed. My uncle, a high-end custom builder in New Jersey for 40 years, visited us during the building process.

Mike completed our home on schedule, and did not spare any details during the walk-through. He and Jerome were great at getting anything fixed or addressed in the few months after moving in. I had always heard that once you move in, it is impossible to get the builder back, but that was not the case with Mike.

I would recommend Gargiula Construction without reservation for your custom home. The prices are more than reasonable, quality is great Mike stays on budget and finishes on time. Most importantly, you can always trust him.
